The Bemposta Schools Group, in Portimão, will celebrate, this Friday, May 21st, the International Day of Biodiversity, with a mountain bike ride, music and an exhibition of electric cars.
The objective, explains this Grouping of Schools, is to promote the «circular economy and soft mobility».
A Mountain Bike Tour “Bemposta a Circular” will be held, open to the entire school community, departing from the Bemposta Basic and Secondary School (EBS) at 10:15 am. The tour will pass through Alvor, Praia do Vau and Praia da Rocha, with the arrival point at the Municipality of Portimão, at 12:30 pm, with the presence of a representative of the municipality.
At 10:00 am, the Blue School flag will be hoisted, and certificates and prizes for participation in the contest “For a Clean Ocean” will be handed out at EBS da Bemposta, as in other schools in the Group.
In addition to the awards ceremony, there will be a musical moment, provided by students from the Professional Education Group.
The conference on “Circular Economy” will take place at the EBS Auditorium in Bemposta, at 14:30 pm, with the participation of representatives from the Municipality of Portimão and other projects in the field of recycling and green energy.
During the day, models of electric cars will also be exhibited at the entrance to the same school.
In addition to these activities, the Group is also involved in the celebration of Biological Diversity/Circular Economy, with the inauguration of exhibitions alluding to the theme, the inauguration of vats for the collection of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), with the hoisting of blue flags and with the collection of hygiene and food items, promoted by the Student and Family Support Service (SAAF) of the Group.
Proclaimed by the United Nations (UN), the International Day for Biological Diversity has been celebrated annually, since 2000, on the 22nd of May.
