A man and two American children rescued from the Benagil cave

Nobody needed medical assistance

A man and two children of American nationality were rescued this afternoon from the Benagil cave, in Lagoa, by elements of the Ferragudo Lifesaving Station.

At 15:54, the National Maritime Authority (AMN) received an alert "informing that there was a man and two children in difficulties in the Benagil cave due to the rising tide."

The vessel from Ferragudo's Salva-Vidas Station, which rescued the adult, aged 30, and the children, aged 10 and 12, was sent to the site.

"The three rescued people were then disembarked at the Ferragudo Life-Saving Station, as there were no safe conditions to disembark on Benagil beach, where the picket of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Portimão was located" , described the AMN.

"Because they were well, the three rescued people did not need medical assistance," he added.

In addition to members of the Ferragudo Lifesaving Station and the Maritime Police, an ambulance from the Lagoa Volunteer Fire Department was also involved in the rescue operation.

The local command of the Maritime Police of Portimão took care of the incident.
