Navio da Marinha performs anchoring of a multiparametric buoy in the Algarve

Maintenance of the coastal ocean monitoring network guaranteed by the Hydrographic Institute

The vessel NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho is on the south coast of the Algarve, in order to anchor the multiparametric ocean buoy of Faro, buoy that had been removed on April 2 as part of the maintenance of the coastal ocean monitoring network guaranteed by the Hydrographic Institute.

In collaboration with the Hydrographic Institute's Marine Geology Division, this ship completed on April 13th another stage of the ongoing multidisciplinary hydro-oceanographic mission.

​This phase consisted, essentially, in the collection of vertical sediment samples, through vibrocorer quality run of gravity, between the Tagus and Sesimbra estuary, at depths between 40 and 150 meters.
