Olympic medalist Emanuel Silva reinforces Kayak Clube Castores do Arade

The entire Sporting Clube de Portugal K4 team will represent the Algarve club

Emanuel Silva, canoeing athlete who won the bronze medal in K2 at the London Olympics, in 2012, is a reinforcement of the team at the Kayak Clube Castores do Arade, in Lagoa. 

Emanuel Silva chose the Algarve team after the end of his connection to Sporting Clube de Portugal.

In fact, the entire Sporting Clube de Portugal K4 team will represent KCCA, as David Varela, Kevin Santos and Artur Pereira also reinforce the Lagoa team.

«Athletes have carried out some training courses for the Olympic Games in the municipality of Lagoa, taking advantage of the excellent conditions provided by the municipality for canoeing. The invitation came at one of these stages and the agreement was formalized last week», tells the Kayak Clube Castores do Arade.

It is next weekend, April 24th and 25th, that the competitions will start, with the participation in the Portuguese Speed ​​Cup, at the Montemor-o-Velho track, for the cadet, junior and senior levels. The KCCA will compete with a reinforced team with a total of 22 athletes.

Emanuel Silva participated in Athens 2004 in his first Olympic Games at the age of 18 and in London 2012 he won the silver medal in K2 with Fernando Pimenta, in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 he took 4th place in the K2 1000m at 296 thousandths of the medal. bronze.

Emanuel Silva and David Varela are part of the Portuguese team qualified for the Olympic Games in K4 500m.

The Kayak Clube Castores do Arade has a “great hope” in winning an Olympic medal for this excellent team.

For the rest, athletes Kevin Santos, Artur Pereira and Iago Bebiano, next week, will compete for the Portuguese spot in K1 200m to participate in the Olympic qualifying competition, European stage. Four athletes are registered, three of which represent Clube Algarvio, which is a way to place a third athlete in the Olympic Games.
