The Algarvians who will be in the final of the National Reading Competition are already known

Meet the eight young Algarve representatives

The eight students from schools in the region who will represent the Algarve in the National Phase of the National Reading Competition have already been selected, in a session that took place on Tuesday, via Facebook in the Municipality of Tavira.

The first cycle students who will compete in the final, which will take place in Oeiras, on June 5, are Bernardo Santiago Martins Neves, from Escola EB1/JI Major David Neto, in Portimão, and Mariane Clara Borges, from EB1 da Estação, in Loule.

In the second cycle, those selected were Sofia Batista Pereira, from Escola Dr. José Neves Júnior, in Faro, and Teresa Alexandra Santos Pereira, from EB 2,3 D. José I, in Vila Real de Santo António.

Mara Filipa Duarte Monteiro, from the Dom Martim Fernandes Basic School, in Albufeira, and Marcelo Oliveira da Velha Belo, from the Montenegro School Group, in Faro, will be the Algarve representatives of the 3rd cycle.

Finally, in Secondary, they will compete on behalf of the Algarve Eduardo Souza Pereira, from the Dr. Jorge Augusto Correia Secondary School, in Tavira, and Inês Moleiro dos Santos, from the João de Deus Secondary School, in Faro.

In the regional final, there were also honorable mentions for Mateus Tubal Palma (1st cycle, EB1 Horta do Carmo, Tavira), Hugo Simão Jesus da Silva (2nd cycle, EB 2,3 de Santo António, Faro), Inês Isabel Duarte Inácio (3rd cycle, Manuel Nascimento Basic School, Monchique) and Ricardo José Mestre Vicente (Secondary, Vila Real de Santo António Secondary School).
