Farense lost 1-2 against Sporting de Braga, in a game of the 25th round of the I Liga, played this Monday, April 5, at Estádio de São Luís, in Faro. The Algarvians performed well, but a goal in added time, towards the end, defeated Jorge Costa's team.

The first sign of danger was given by the arsenalistas in the 4th minute. Galeno shot from the edge of the area and the ball went close to the bar. Farense was quick to respond and, at 9′, Ryan Gauld had the goal in his feet.

The Algarvians recovered a ball in midfield, Pedro Henrique passed to the Scotsman and Gauld shot for a tight defense by Matheus.

The first half was well disputed, with attacks from both sides and a fearless Farense against one of the best Portuguese teams today.

The opening goal came in the 30th minute. Al-Musrati jumped alone, after a corner from the right, and headed into the back of the net. Only four minutes later, Farense re-established equality, also in a corner.

Gauld made a wide cross, Pedro Henrique appeared at the far post, flew between Braga's central defenders and headed correctly.

The complementary stage was also marked by the good football of both teams. At 51′, Al-Musrati almost scored twice in the match, but the Libyan midfielder's shot went just past Beto's goal post.

At 60′, it was Gauld who put Matheus to the test twice, but both shots were saved by the goalkeeper from Braga.

Braga launched Nico Gaitan at 61′ and, for a few minutes, had a bigger ascendancy, also due to the entry of the Argentine international, former Benfica player.

Still, the great opportunities for the comeback were for Farense. In the 81st minute, Gauld made a great cross and Pedro Henrique headed it unopposed, but Matheus saved it.

After a few minutes, the same Matheus twice scored against Farense on the goal line. First, Lucca headed the ball and, in the reload, Pedro Henrique hit the ball with his knee. Matheus, who was still on the ground, managed to defend.

But in football, everything can change from one moment to the next. Farense fought well, played a great game, but, almost at the end, conceded the second goal, in a great run from Galen. Sporar, alone in the middle, shot into the back of the net. The bid was still analyzed by the video referee, for alleged offside, but he did count.

With this defeat, in a game of great level for the Algarve, Farense maintains the same 22 points and is in 16th position, in the relegation play-off zone.
