The V Duathlon de Ferreiras takes place on the 25th of April, from 10:30 am, «with all the safety rules».
The competition, organized in partnership by Futebol Clube de Ferreiras, Albufeira City Council and the Triathlon Federation of Portugal with the support of the Ferreiras Parish Council, consists of two sports – running and cycling – which will take place in Ferreiras, next to the Nora Stadium.
The first race, which comprises 4 kilometers of road (connection section plus 2 laps) and the second race, which extends over 2 kilometers (1 lap), goes through an asphalt course with little unevenness. In the cycling race, athletes will cycle along 16,2 kilometers (3 laps), on a course with little unevenness and low technical demand.
This year, due to the pandemic situation, the test had to be approved by the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve «and has reinforced safety, circulation and surveillance measures».
In the end, the usual awards ceremony will not take place, with only the first three athletes (male and female) and the first three teams (male and female) being given trophies.
All athletes, two meters apart and wearing a mask, will be subject, at the Control Post, to body temperature measurement, will have alcohol-gel at their disposal and will have to sign a declaration stating that they do not show symptoms of the disease in the last 15 days.
The event is part of the Albufeira Municipality's April 25 commemorations program.
