The City Council of Vila Real de Santo António is being searched this Tuesday, April 13, by the Judiciary Police (PJ), advances the RTP, due to "suspicions of economic crime".
According to TVI, Conceição Cabrita, president of the Chamber of VRSA, was even arrested for the crime of corruption.
According to this television channel, what is at issue is the 'sale of a property to a company, at prices below the market, the municipality having been harmed'.
TVI adds that "there are still suspicions of compensation for the mayor and for an official of the City Council, also detained."
RTP explains that these searches began at 8:00 am and involve eight inspectors from the PJ in Lisbon.
