Paying rent for a house is becoming an increasing effort for Portuguese families. Faro it is the second city in the country with the highest rate of effort, where 39% of family income is needed to pay the rent, according to a study carried out by the real estate portal Idealista.

In eight Portuguese cities, the effort rate, of one third of income to pay rent, is being surpassed.

The effort rate of families to pay the rent for a house in Portugal can go up to 41%, according to a study that crosses March rental prices with the estimated net family income for the same period of time.

First, there is the city of Setúbal, where families find themselves spending 41% of their income to pay the rent on their housing.

Following Faro (39%), Évora (38%), Lisbon (36%), Beja and Vila Real (both with 34%).

Bragança is the city with the lowest effort rate (18%).
