Tavira devotes an entire week to reading, with online activities

Activities point out reading as a structuring and aggregating element

Tavira promotes the 15th edition of the Reading Week, on the 8th and 12th of March, in an initiative integrated in the National Reading Plan. Due to the current pandemic situation, the action takes place only online, but with the participation of public and private schools.

The program foresees a set of activities that, during these days, mark reading as a structuring and aggregating element.

One of them is the “Authors Gallery”: in the Up and Down buses, texts with bibliographical references will be placed. In addition, the Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library will provide a video with images from previous editions, thus creating an online exhibition of the Gallery of Authors.

Within the scope of the “Tavira a ler” initiative, throughout the week, Rádio Gilão will broadcast several moments of reading texts by the voice of students. This action results from the articulation between teachers, students and this local media body.

There will also be the “Põe-te a ler” action, which involves the publication of comments, opinion articles, reflection on books selected by students, parents, guardians and teachers.

Closing the week, on March 12, at 11:00 am, the “A Quatro Mãos” initiative will take place, through which the organization intends to broaden the taste for books and the pleasure of reading by all students of the 1st Cycle of the county.

In this sense, a link will also be sent to the schools in the parishes, thus increasing the participation of a greater number of children in this initiative.

The Reading Week is organized by the Tavira Library Network (school and municipal libraries) and has the collaboration of Rádio Gilão.
