man was appointed defendant

A 55-year-old man was arrested this Monday, at Parque da Fronteira, in Castro Marim, when he was trying to enter Portugal with a cardsharp, a prohibited weapon. The arrest was made by the GNR, through the Criminal Prevention and Community Policing Section (SPC) of Tavira.

The car in which the man was following, heading for Portugal, was approached by the authorities at the Authorized Crossing Point of the Guadiana International Bridge.

During the inspection, the military detected that the driver had with him an "object that resembled a card", but that it was, in reality, "a hidden prohibited weapon known as cardsharp».

The suspect was arrested and made an accused and the facts were referred to the Judicial Court of Vila Real de Santo António.
