The Chamber of Faro is distributing animal feed, raised by the IRA – Animal Intervention and Rescue Nucleus, to needy families and residents and animal caretakers.

The food was delivered this Friday, March 5th, by the IRA at the premises of the Firefighters Sapadores de Faro and, according to the local authority, it will, from now on, be "granted to needy families, upon proof - which can be obtained, if the situation of need is verified, in a simple and undemanding process - from the Social Development and Education Division ( DDSE) of the Municipality or Parish Council».

The ration will also be distributed "by people recognized in the community as caretakers of animal colonies", adds the Chamber of Faro.

In both cases, the feed can be collected at the Firefighters Sapadores facilities, “with all safety measures and conditions”.

Citizens must be accompanied by identification and leave a record with name, address and contact. To support the process or information, use the number 967150345 (available only on weekdays, during office hours) or email [email protected].

In a note sent to the editorial offices, the Municipality of Faro "thanks for the IRA's availability to raise and provide feed, at such a difficult time for the community, in particular for those who are in need, and which also has effects on animals."

The municipality also recalls that “in line with the municipality's guiding principle of respect and preservation of animal welfare and dignity, the municipality has, among other measures, carried out and supported several awareness campaigns against abandonment, abuse and care for animals".

For Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber, this is "an important measure" and that "comes to support families in their daily obligation to provide food and well-being to their pets, which is not accessible to many wallets."
