An 18-year-old boy, who hid in the middle of the vegetation after having helped to steal more than 500 kilos of avocados, was arrested this Friday, February 26, in Silves.
The GNR was called to the scene after a "report reporting a theft of avocados on private property."
The military were "informed by the owner of the land and by some officials that the suspects had already left the site, but after a search on the ground, it was possible to detect one of the suspects hiding in the vegetation", says the GNR.
According to the authorities, "the individuals had already stored about 550 kilos of avocado, with an estimated value of 1500 euros, having been seized and returned to the rightful owner".
The detainee was made an accused and the facts referred to the Judicial Court of Silves.
The action was reinforced by the Intervention Detachment (DI) of Faro.
