The Association for Family Planning - Delegation of Faro has a new vehicle, purchased with the help of the Chamber of Faro «for better development» of the activities of this entity in the municipality.
The APF has applied in recent years to the program of support to associations of the municipality of Faro «and recently acquired a vehicle that will allow a growing approximation of the technical teams to the most needy users in a community context».
To buy it, the association had support of 6402 euros, corresponding to 50% of the vehicle's value.
At the end of last week, Rogério Bacalhau, president of the Chamber of Faro, and Carlos Baía, councilor of the municipality, were at the premises of the APF, in Faro, to get to know the new vehicle.
During the visit, the mayor from Farense considered that it is a commitment of the local authority “to keep our community life active and functional and in this daily challenge, the associative movement assumes special relevance”.
For Rogério Bacalhau, APF has been carrying out «a very meritorious work with our community in areas that are very sensitive and difficult to work and, therefore, it needs the best working conditions».
"There is nothing fairer than the granting of this support for the acquisition of a vehicle with all the conditions for this important mission to continue to be carried out smoothly," concluded the Mayor of Faro.
Headquartered in Faro, the APF delegation in the Algarve was created on April 7, 1987, with two main lines of action. The first consists of intervention with the community and publics considered to be priority or especially vulnerable, such as sexual workers and migrant population, through assistance, counseling and referrals in the area of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Family Planning, with particular focus on preventing HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
The other main line of action corresponds to the organization and promotion of training and information actions in the areas of sexuality, Sexual Education and Sexual and Reproductive Health, with young people, professionals and families.
