Tennis: Gastão Elias and Pedro Araújo are already in the quarter-finals of the Vale do Lobo Open

The Portuguese tennis players Gastão Elias and Pedro Araújo qualified, this Thursday, February 25, for the quarter finals of the main singles team at Vale do Lobo Open Magnesium-K Active.

Number 379 in the ATP ranking, Gastão Elias added his seventh victory in seven matches held this year (in the first tournament he was crowned champion in Vilhena, Spain) by applying the partials of 6-1 and 7-6(3) on the to qualify Austrian Maximilian Neuchrist (653rd).

Young Pedro Araújo also followed for the quarter-finals, who won again to achieve the best result of his career in tournaments on the international circuit — and then in a $25.000 race.

The Lisbon, current national under 18 champion, was practically impeccable in the duel with the to qualify Frenchman Vincent Stouff (1086th), who won 6-1 6-3 in just 1h27.

In the quarter-finals, Pedro Araújo will face Lucas Poullain, who beat Max Andrews by 6-1 and 7-6(4), while Gastão Elias will face Slovenian Tomas Lipovsek Puches (616th), who surprised the first favorite , Maxime Hamou (362nd), 6-0, 1-6 and 6-4.

The remaining places in the quarter finals of Vale do Lobo Open Magnesium-K Active were filled by Mexican Luis Patino and French Evan Furness, Antoine Escoffier and Kenny de Schepper.

Closing the match, Gonçalo Falcão extended the Portuguese representation in the doubles variant, thanks to a 7-5 and 7-6(2) triumph alongside Tomas Lipovsek Puches, with whom he defeated Luchas Gerch and Peter Goldsteiner to reach the semis -ends. The duo formed by Alen Avidzba/Kristjan Tamm follows.
