São Brás de Alportel invests in computers and delivers them to students

Municipality is complementing the support that is given by the ministry

The City Council of São Brás de Alportel purchased a hundred computers and Internet access devices to give them to schoolchildren in the municipality, in order to «guarantee that all children in the municipality are able to study at a distance during periods of confinement. ».

Some of this equipment was delivered to the José Belchior Viegas Schools Group in the first half of February and "are an important complement to the support in this area provided by the Ministry of Education", according to the City Council of São Brás de Alportel.

«The pandemic caused by the new coronavirus and the second period of “School at Home” brought great challenges to the school community, which has been adapting to distance learning through new technologies, which unfortunately are not always accessible to all families , which is why social intervention is essential in order to guarantee equality and social inclusion», explained the municipality.

To the efforts of the Ministry of Education and the municipality to ensure that all students in the municipality have computers and access to the Internet, “the community's solidarity action has been added, through the provision of computers and other equipment”.

This material, «after its restoration, with the generous collaboration of a local company», has been made available to students who need it.

The “Informática Solidária” Project is an initiative promoted, in partnership, by the Municipality and Parish of São Brás de Alportel, Sul Office and the Salvation Army, with the support of the José Belchior Viegas School Group.
