Gastão Elias is one step away from the title at Vale do Lobo Open Magnesium-K Active after qualifying this Saturday for the final of this tennis tournament, which will be played tomorrow, Sunday, at 11:00 am.

The Portuguese tennis player, 379th in the ATP ranking, beat French Lucas Poullain (512th) this afternoon by 6-4, 1-6 and 6-3.

This victory, the ninth in a row this year, guaranteed his presence in the final, which will compete with Evan Furness (376th), who won against compatriot Antoine Escoffier (397th) in a semi-final that was also decided in three sets, with the partials of 4-6, 6-1 and 6-2.

«It gives me even more confidence to know that even not playing my best tennis, I have been able to “snap” good victories», vents Elias soon after adding another victory at Vale do Lobo Tennis Academy.

This was, by the way, the most complicated game of the week for Gastão Elias, as it was, who was forced to play a third game.

“He played well and left very early for the lead because I couldn't make it difficult for him to play on duty. And there came a time when I already knew it would be difficult to turn around and I started to think about how to make it big in the third set, with energy, focused and aggressive. That's what I did and it made a difference. I had a good attitude, I was intense, I tried to be aggressive and control the points and I'm happy for having returned to a great level after a partial that didn't go so well for me», described the Portuguese tennis player.

Elias will have the second final of the season in Vale de Lobo, after the one he won in Vilhena, Spain, which earned him the victory in his first tournament.

For Furness, it will be the third final. The young man from Pontivy, in the Brittany region, played two consecutive decisions in $15.000 tournaments at Rafael Nadal's academy in Manacor, losing the first and winning the second.

Interestingly, this will be the second time that the French tennis player will discuss a title in the Algarve, exactly three years after having won, in the Faro Open, the first career champion trophy.

Also today, Frenchman Dan Added and German Fabian Fallert confirmed their status as first seeded and won the doubles title, thanks to a 6-2, 6-7 (4) and 10-2 victory over Russian Alen Avidzba and Estonian Kristjan Tamm.
