The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) has created a fund to support clubs that have had competitions suspended due to the Covid-19 pandemic, in the amount of 2 million euros, the body announced today.

"Given the impact generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, the FPF board decided to establish a new support fund to help national and district competition clubs that were forced to suspend their activity", reads the official statement.

The fund will have a global amount of 2 million euros, with a non-refundable part and another on loan, up to 1.500 euros for clubs in the women's second division and first district divisions, 1.250 for other district and third women's divisions and 1.000 euros for futsal formations.

The FPF ensures that all clubs in these competitions can apply for this support, and each district and regional association will receive 15 thousand euros, as well as a variable amount for each club that was active in January 2021 in the district competitions.

"The aim of this new fund is to allow district associations to help clubs in their competitions in this particularly difficult period when competitions were suspended due to the pandemic as well as directly assist clubs participating in national competitions," explained the FPF.

With the current state of emergency, in effect since January 14, only the professional championships, I League and II League, and "matched", cases of the main senior national levels of women's football, futsal and the Portuguese Championship are taking place, the others having been suspended, a situation that has been maintained since March 2020 for training.
