Faro extends free school meals to all A and B grade students

Decision was taken unanimously at Monday's Chamber meeting

All pre-school and 1st cycle students of schools in Faro those with grade A and B are entitled to free school meals as long as educational establishments remain closed.

The municipal executive of Faro decided unanimously, at the Chamber meeting on Monday, the inclusion of 'levels 2, 3 and 4 of Social Security in level A of social support for needy students in the first cycle, with regard to food, taking into account the the current situation of the country and in view of the increase in the number of families with economic difficulties”, according to the Chamber of Faro.

This decision allows “free access to school meals to all beneficiaries of social support, during the period when educational establishments are closed. These meals are served in a takeaway regime, in disposable doses of individual doses, to needy students in grade A and B of pre-school and 1st cycle».

Students in grade A and B of this level of education also received food purchase vouchers in the amount of 30 euros (6 individual vouchers of 5 euros), «which will be distributed by the School Groups, in the respective Headquarters Schools».

"The municipality, led by Rogério Bacalhau, who holds the responsibility for Education, reinforces its role in supporting families at a time of proliferation of cases of Covid19 contagion, which requires the application of extraordinary and urgent measures", concluded the camera of Faro.
