Two “Algarvian” lynxes were released in Mértola [with photos]

Rosmaninho and Nightingale were born in Silves and released in Mértola

 

The Iberian lynx Rosmaninho and Rouxinol, both born a little less than a year ago at the National Center for Reproduction of the Iberian Lynx of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests, in Silves, were released yesterday, the 9th, in Mértola, in a land under jurisdiction Infantry Regiment No. 1, of Beja, located in the parish of São João dos Caldeireiros.

With the release of these two young lynx, both males, the process of reintroducing this endangered species into Portugal took another step, this time with the involvement of the Infantry Regiment No. 1.

Rosmaninho is the offspring of the female Fresa and the male Drago and the Nightingale is the offspring of the female Juncia and the male Fresco.
