Centenary of the PCP will also be celebrated in the Algarve

High point of the celebrations takes place on March 6th

The Portuguese Communist Party (PCP) will mark, over the next week, its 100th anniversary with actions throughout the country, including in the Algarve. The high point of the commemorations takes place on March 6, when party leaders will speak in Faro, Vila Real de Santo António, Olhão, Silves, Portimão and Lagos.

«100 years, 100 actions» is the name of the initiative that, on March 6, will take place in cities across the country, under the motto “Freedom, Democracy, Socialism – For rights, the improvement of living conditions and social progress. Against exploitation and impoverishment”.

Em Faro, will be Vasco Cardoso, member of the Political Commission of the Central Committee, who will speak at 15:00 pm, in Largo da Pontinha.

On the same day, at the same time, Paulo Neto will speak in Vila Real de Santo António, Filipe Parra, in Olhão, Marco Jóia, in Silves, Joana Sanches, in Portimão, and Celso Costa, in Lagos.

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the PCP emphasizes that “on that date, the PCP will bring to the streets the denunciation of the problems the country is facing and the demand for a policy that responds to the problems, anxieties and demands of workers and the Portuguese people, from the patriotic and left-wing alternative, for advanced democracy, for socialism».

Within the scope of the commemorations, the PCP will also carry out actions of “contact with workers and the population as of March 1st”.

A leaflet will also be distributed in which the PCP “reaffirms its commitment as always as a workers' party, the party that is at your side every day and whose project is inseparable from your interests and aspirations for a better life, the liberation of all the forms of exploitation and oppression».

On Thursday, March 4, “Avante!”, the PCP's central organ, will come out with a special edition including a supplement dedicated to the PCP's 100 years of struggle and “to its exalting project that is projected today and in the future, and also a poster alluding to the centenary of the PCP».

The PCP also highlights, «among the many initiatives that will take place throughout the week, the installation of PCP flags in various locations, mural paintings and the placement of banners».
