Farmers in the Barlavento Algarvio region submitted 41 applications for the Leader measure of the PDR 2020, with a global value of more than 1,6 million euros, during the notices launched in 2020 by the Vicentina Association and which ended this year.

The measure that received the most applications, 26 in total, was “Small Investments in Agricultural Explorations. The projects presented to this support line "represent a proposed investment of approximately eight hundred thousand euros", according to Vicentina, who promotes the Adere 2020 Local Action Group.

"The sectors that stand out in the typology of investments meet those that are the most representative of the region: citrus, vegetables, roots, tubers and viticulture, among others," added the association.

In the measure “Small Investments in the Transformation and Marketing of Agricultural Products”, “four requests for support were submitted, with a proposed investment of approximately seven hundred and thirty thousand euros, for the wine and pork sectors, in the parishes of Silves , Monchique, Alvor and Rogil».

Vicentina also received 11 applications for the media “Short Chains”, “essentially to support the movement of producers to the markets, for the commercialization of their products, for a total investment of around one hundred thousand euros”.

With these applications, the global value of the projects presented during the notices opened by the Vicentina Association rose to 3,2 million, representing a commitment of 1,3 million to contribute to this financial instrument of the European Union, aimed at supporting farmers and the rural world .

Vicentina wants to continue in 2021 «to contribute to its objectives: to improve the income and working conditions of farmers, to enhance and dynamize short circuits, in order to encourage the proximity marketing of various agricultural products».

"Although atypical, the year 2020 served to strengthen the relationships previously established with promoters and partners, farmers and producers within our territory of intervention", concluded the association.
