15 computers for basic students arrive this week in schools

Government expects the arrival of 335 laptop computers

The schools will receive this week 15 computers for basic education students, revealed to Lusa the representative of the school principals.

“There will start to arrive, at any moment, 15 computers for the younger students. Some schools may already receive today, others will take place this week”, said Filinto Lima, president of the National Association of Public Schools and Grouping Directors (ANDAEP).

The decision to acquire this equipment was made public about two weeks ago, when the Council of Ministers approved the authorization of expenditure for the purchase of computers and internet for needy students.

“This number of computers is very far from providing an answer to all the most needy students, that is, those who have grade A of the School Social Support (ASE), but it is already a help”, said Filinto Lima, who is also the director of a cluster in Vila Nova de Gaia.

The 15 pieces of equipment that are now arriving at schools to be distributed to students are thus added to the 100 that have already been delivered to needy secondary school students.

The Government also expects the arrival of another 335 laptops, whose delivery is delayed due to supply problems.

Basic and secondary education has more than one million students and the Government's plan is to assign each student a computer.
