Tavira becomes part of the restricted group of municipalities where there is an "Extremely High Risk" of contagion, according to the weekly update of the incidence of Covid-19 cases, in the last 14 days, made this Monday, by the General Directorate of Health ( DGS).

Due to the outbreaks that arose in this county, which placed it in the scale of more than 960 cases per 100 inhabitants, Tavira is really the only municipality in the Algarve in this Extremely High Risk group.

According to the DGS list, the municipality in the region with the fewest cases (between 60 and 119,9 per 100 inhabitants in the last 14 days) is Monchique, which, even so, is considered to have Moderate risk.

In this same moderate risk level, but with 120-239,9 cases per 100 inhabitants, are Alcoutim, Aljezur, Lagoa and Vila do Bispo.

On the other hand, Castro Marim, Lagos, Loulé, Olhão, Portimão, São Brás de Alportel and Silves are in the high risk counties range (240-479,9).

Finally, in the Algarve there are three municipalities in the Very High risk level (480-959,9). They are Albufeira, Faro and Vila Real de Santo António. All of them have seen their risk level aggravated this past week due to the emergence of many new cases of Covid-19.

This weekly update of the cumulative incidence of 14 days per municipality serves as a reference for drawing up the list of at-risk councils that are subject to stricter rules - those with more than 240 cases per 100 inhabitants, that is, from the High risk level up.

These municipalities are subject to measures such as curfew, every day, from 23:00 pm to 5:00 am.

In addition, commercial establishments must close at 22:00 and restaurants and cultural facilities until 22:30. Mandatory teleworking is also maintained, whenever possible.

In the last 24 hours, according to the epidemiological data now released by the DGS, the Algarve registered 4 more deaths and 233 new cases of Covid-19. Across the country, there were 5.604 newly infected.
