The Physiotherapy degree students at the Piaget Institute of Silves, supervised by the professor and researcher Beatriz Minghelli, prescribed a training session for surf athletes, based on scientific evidence.
This initiative was carried out in partnership with the Play Surf surf school in Praia da Rocha (Portimão).
In designing this activity, students researched and analyzed scientific studies that address the epidemiology of surf injuries in the Portuguese population.
«The exercise prescription applied to sport must take into account the type of metabolism involved in the development of the activity, the movements most frequently performed, as well as the type, location and mechanism of the most frequent injury», says Piaget de Silves.
