The Minister of the Sea announced today that a new credit line of 20 million euros is being prepared to cover the treasury needs of the fishing and aquaculture sectors before Covid-19.

“In view of the success of the first credit line, a new line of 20 million euros is in the final stages of preparation, identical to the first one”, announced Ricardo Serrão Santos, who was speaking, via videoconference, at the parliamentary committee on Agriculture and Sea.

The official also indicated that, within the scope of the first line, 20,7 million euros of credit were approved, with a bonus of two million euros.

During his initial intervention, the head of the Ministry of the Sea also said that, in 2020, the fisheries sector knew how to react “in a unique way to the vicissitudes” created by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The dedication of agents in the fish sector and their collaborators allowed us to continue to ensure the normal supply of the population”, he stressed.
