The Alcoutim Nautical Center, located on Avenida de Espanha, next to the Guadiana River, was the target of remodeling and expansion works, under the responsibility of the Alcouteneja Chamber.
The intervention was the subject of an application financed by the CRESC Algarve 2020 Operational Program, «priority axis 5 – investing in employment, thematic objective 8 – promoting sustainability and quality of employment and supporting labor mobility», with the investment included in the Plan of Endogenous Resources Development Action (PADRE).
The work, which was inaugurated on September 11th, a municipal holiday, involved an associated investment of 233.088,67 euros, which aimed at the remodeling and expansion of the building and the acquisition of gym and IT equipment.
The Alcoutim Nautical Center is an infrastructure designed to take advantage of the sports and recreational potential of the Guadiana River and promotes the practice of nautical sports, namely canoeing for recreation/leisure, training and competition.
Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim, which manages the structure, has several regional, national and even international canoeing champions.
