Joana Ramos, alcoholic canoeist, wins bronze medal at the Olympic Hopes

The athlete from Alcoutim gave a good account of herself in the Olympic hopes championships

The alcoholic canoeist Joana Ramos won the bronze medal in K4 200 meters, at the Olympic Hopes 2019, a race held in Bratislava, Slovakia, bringing together 831 competitors from 36 countries.

The athlete from Grupo Desportivo de Alcoutim also defended the national colors in the K1 Women 15 years – 200 meters races; K2 Female 15-16 years old – 500 meters and K4 Female 15-17 years old – 200/500 meters, also winning 1st place in Final B in K2 500 Meters, 1st place in Final B in K2 200 Meters and 6th place in at K4 500 meters.

The Portuguese team was made up of 12 young canoeists, between 15 and 17 years old.

Olympic Hopes is one of the most prestigious international regattas, aimed at Olympic hopes, where the best athletes in the world at the cadet and junior levels are present.

«Joana Ramos thus conquers her first international title, in addition to the national titles she has conquered and that reflect her capacity and dedication», stresses the Alcoutim Chamber.

Osvaldo Gonçalves, president of the municipality, has already congratulated the alcouteneja athlete for her achievement, stressing the importance of this medal «in strengthening the image of the municipality with sporting potential, where sport has infrastructure and various support programs that encourage individual and very in particular sports associations'.
