Algarve is «testing more than the national average»

"In this phase of confinement it is important to test, test, test", said Paulo Morgado

The Algarve is carrying out more screening tests for Covid-19 "than the national average", an aspect highlighted this Friday, 22 January, by the president of the Regional Health Administration, at the press conference to assess the pandemic .

According to Paulo Morgado, “a gigantic effort has been made in terms of laboratory capacity”.

The Dr. Laura Ayres Public Health Laboratory is doing "about 2000 tests a day".

This capacity “has been multiplied seven times, compared to what happened in March, when around 300 tests were carried out daily”, said the president of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve.

As for private entities, last week, they carried out a total of 2600 tests on Covid-19, "a record in the region".

“In this confinement phase it is important to test, test, test and then isolate and trace contacts. In the Algarve, we are testing and testing far above what is the national average. This is the aspect that I wanted to highlight and reassure the people of the Algarve, passing on this message», concluded Paulo Morgado.
