Algarve Operational Program supports new Technological Specialization Courses for young people

CET are an opportunity to improve qualification, update and/or specialize in activities with high employment potential

The Algarve Operational Program approved the applications submitted by training operators offering accredited Technological Specialization Courses (CET), with emphasis on the Hotel Schools of Tourism of Portugal, financing with European funds the realization of new courses starting in 2021 .

The CETs are technical training at post-secondary non-higher level (level 5 of the National Qualification Framework), which combine general and scientific training with technological and practical training in a work context, and aim to meet the need for intermediate staff necessary for improving the competitiveness of companies and the regional economy.

For young people, the CETs are an opportunity to improve their qualifications, update and/or specialize in activities with high employment potential, enabling them to have a more qualified insertion in the labor market.

In the case of Hotel and Tourism Schools, the employability rate after completion of training has been higher than 73%, and the rate of continuation of studies to higher education level has been almost 20%.

In the context of the 17 new courses now approved, the qualification of more than 330 young people is foreseen, in training actions that represent almost 500 thousand hours in training volume.

Its completion will mean a public investment of more than 2 million euros, of which 80% will be financed by the European Social Fund (ESF).
