The deadline for municipalities to submit applications to the Program for the removal of asbestos from schools was extended until 30 December, "after having identified more school equipment that will integrate the universe of schools to be intervened".
According to the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion, so far, "171 municipalities with 624 schools, pre-school and basic and secondary education, eligible for intervention for the removal of asbestos have joined this program", and "applications were submitted by 460 schools located in 130 municipalities, representing 73,7% of the universe of schools and 76% of the universe of municipalities».
33 of these schools, from 19 municipalities, are located in the Alentejo and 25, from 9 municipalities, in the Algarve.
Applications already submitted requested a budget of more than 75 million euros.
The financing of interventions is 2020% guaranteed by European funds from the Regional Operational Programs Norte 2020, Centro 2020, Lisboa 2020, Alentejo 2020 and CRESC Algarve XNUMX.
