The Minister of State, Economy and Digital Transition said today, December 11, that the new support for companies "are extremely demanding from the point of view of their execution", but added that he is confident that they will be launched at the beginning of next year.

"These supports that we are launching are extremely demanding from the point of view of their execution", said Pedro Siza Vieira in response to the PS in the first sectorial debate after the revision of the regulations of the Assembly of the Republic, which focuses on an area, in this case the Economy, and follows the model of the debates with the prime minister in which the Government answers, one by one, the questions of the deputies.

The support was also "very demanding from the point of view of its conception and the mobilization of resources", said the minister, highlighting the new reinforcements of the Apoiar program, which started with 750 million euros in non-repayable funds and which was reinforced by 300 million for the rent program, among other measures.

"I am confident that we will be able to implement and be able to launch support early next year and I say this with confidence based on the work done in recent weeks," said Siza Vieira, in response to socialist deputy Pedro Coimbra, who had questioned the minister on whether the Government can guarantee that support reaches companies in the first half of 2021.

Siza Vieira also defended that in response to the crisis caused by covid-19, it is necessary to "let the budget deficit grow", guaranteeing that the Government is "trying to strike a difficult balance that, despite everything, is possible".

The Government decided to expand the universe of companies that can be covered by the Apoiar program, having also reduced, with conditions, some of the current restrictions, such as the requirement of positive equity capital or the inexistence of debts to the State.

These changes were announced on Thursday by the Minister of State and Economy.

Through the Apoiar program, micro and small companies have access to support a non-repayable subsidy due to the fall in billing, but the measure did not include medium-sized companies or sole proprietors (ENI) without organized accounting.

Companies with tax or contributory debts are also able to apply for the Apoiar program, this application being subject to the condition of regularizing the missing amounts.
