Abel Gomes takes over as District Operational Commander of Faro

Ceremony takes place this Monday in Carnaxide

Abel Gomes will be the new District Operational Commander of Faro. The current 2nd District Operational Commander takes office this Monday, along with two new Deputy Operations Commanders and six other District Operational Commanders of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, in a ceremony presided over by Patrícia Gaspar, Secretary of State for Internal Administration, at Headquarters of ANEPC.

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Ministry of Internal Administration emphasizes that "the two new Deputies of Operations and the seven new designated District Operational Commanders, all originating from the civil protection system, have proven experience and adequate training to carry out their duties" .

Abel Gomes has training in Risks, Planning and Civil Protection, «experience in the exercise of command functions in the fire department and has been working at ANEPC since 2006,» highlights the MAI.

In addition to Abel Gomes, this Monday, Ana Paula Ramos, as District Operational Commander of Aveiro, Maria João Rosado, as District Operational Commander of Évora, Hugo Santos, as District Operational Commander of Lisbon, Albano Teixeira, as Commander Porto District Operational, David Lobato, as District Operational Commander of Santarém and João Pinto, as District Operational Commander of Setúbal.

Carlos Mata, current District Operational Commander of Lisbon and Mário Silvestre, current District Operational Commander of Santarém, will be the two new Deputies of Operations.

Last Thursday, Vítor Vaz Pinto was sworn in as Regional Commander of the Algarve, with a view to implementing the new territorial model for civil protection.

The new regional emergency and civil protection commands are located in Vila Real (North), Viseu (Center), Almeirim (Lisbon and Vale do Tejo), Évora (Alentejo) and Loulé (Algarve).
