Vaz Pinto takes over as Regional Commander of the Algarve

The creation of the five regional emergency and civil protection commands was already foreseen, since April 2019, in the new organic law of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC)

Vítor Vaz Pinto takes office this Thursday, December 17, at 16:30 pm, as Regional Commander of the Algarve, in a ceremony at the headquarters of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority, in Carnaxide. 

The Secretary of State for Internal Administration Patrícia Gaspar will preside at the inauguration ceremony, in substitution, of the five regional commanders of emergency and civil protection.

This inauguration fulfills the priorities identified by the Government, namely with regard to the implementation of the new territorial model for civil protection.

The new regional emergency and civil protection commands will be located in Vila Real (North), Viseu (Center), Almeirim (Lisbon and Vale do Tejo), Évora (Alentejo) and Loulé (Algarve).

As for the designated regional commanders, they are: Carlos Alves (North), António Ribeiro (Center), Elísio Oliveira (Lisbon and Vale do Tejo), José Ribeiro (Alentejo) and Vaz Pinto (Algarve).

The five competitions for these positions will be submitted to CReSAP.
