São Brás is experiencing "one of the greatest injustices" with new restrictions from the State of Emergency

For Vítor Guerreiro, «São Brás de Alportel is being greatly harmed»

Vítor Guerreiro, mayor of São Brás de Alportel, considers that the council is experiencing "one of the greatest injustices" in its history with the new State of Emergency restrictions, announced this Sunday, November 8th, and which include curfew and weekend circulation restrictions.

After an extraordinary Council of Ministers, António Costa revealed the new State of Emergency measures that came into force this Monday, November 9th and which apply only to 121 councils considered to be at high risk.

In addition to the curfew, from 23:00 pm to 5:00 am, every day of the week, it was also decided to limit circulation on weekends, from 13:00 pm to 5:00 am.

In the Algarve, the only municipality covered is São Brás de Alportel and Vítor Guerreiro, leader of the municipality, has already contested, in a post on Facebook, the new restrictions.

«We naturally understand the need to intensify measures to control the pandemic, a mission that has moved us since March, but we understand these measures as inadequate in the reality of our municipality, which unfairly, by applying a blind mathematical formula, integrates the map of the most risky municipalities in the country,” he wrote.

According to the mayor, "the people of São Brasenses do not deserve it, due to the effort they have made to comply with the rules of the DGS."

“We have been an example for the region and the country. This measure is completely disproportionate to the pandemic reality that we have in our municipality, with only 11 positive cases outside the Home and 24 positive cases in the Home», he adds.

For Vítor Guerreiro, «São Brás de Alportel is being greatly harmed. Our entrepreneurs, merchants and population in general do not deserve it, because there is no reason or justification for São Brás de Alportel to be on this map».

The mayor says he will continue to "fight" against this inclusion on the map of high-risk municipalities, being "in permanent dialogue with authorities, policies and the health area, in an attempt to reverse this sad situation that harms everyone" .
