Rute Martins sounds historic church organs in Tavira and Faro

The concerts take place at 21 pm

Rute Martins is the guest of upcoming concerts at Algarve Organ Festival on Friday, November 20, at the Church of Santiago (Tavira), and on Saturday, November 21, at the Igreja do Carmo (Faro). In the Algarve capital, the show will only be broadcast online. 

In the Church of Santiago, Rute Martins will play an organ, whose construction dates back to 1785. This concert will welcome the public, admission being free and without prior reservation (50 seats).

On Saturday, the 21st, it will be time to perform at Igreja do Carmo in Faro, on the keyboard, registers and pedals of the organ from the end of the XNUMXth century. Here, the concert will only be broadcast online.

The concerts take place at 21 pm and are part of the 00th edition of the Algarve Organ Festival, organized by Associação Cultural Música XXI and with a Contingency Plan approved by the Health Authority.

Rute Martins began her musical studies at the Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa in 1987, when she began studying Organ under the supervision of Professor Antoine Sibertin Blanc. He finished his Degree in Organ at the Lisbon Superior School of Music in 1999, under the supervision of the same Professor.

In addition to teaching, he has performed several solo recitals and other instrumental formations. In the country, the highlights are the concerts held in the Azores, at the Santarém International Music Festival and the Non Stop concerts at the Sé de Lisboa. He has performed concerts with several choirs and orchestras, including tours in Europe, namely, Austria, Hungary, Belgium and Germany.

He taught the Gregorian Week Courses in 1999 and 2000. He teaches in the Organ Class of the Arts Conservatory of Orfeão de Leiria and the School of Arts-Samp. He is an Organist at the German Evangelical Church in Lisbon and is part of the chamber music group Liz Consort.

The Algarve Organ Festival 2020 has the support of the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve and the Municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Portimão and Tavira, with support for the dissemination of the Algarve Tourism Region and communication partners Antena 2, Sul Informação, FM Street and More Algarve. It also has a partnership with the Diocese of Algarve, the Cabido da Sé de Faro, of the Order of Carmo of Faro and the parishes of Portimão, Boliqueime and Tavira.
