Algarvian poet Pedro Jubilot receives “Calceteiros de Letras” award

The Gym Club of Faro instituted the prize with the aim of recognizing and rewarding a personality or institution for its role in the world of poetry and the spoken word

The Algarve poet Pedro Jubilot received, this Sunday, 15 November, the “Calceteiros de Letras” award, given by the Ginásio Clube de Faro, for his action and dedication in spreading the word and poetry.

The Gym Club of Faro instituted the prize with the aim of recognizing and rewarding a personality or institution for its role in the world of poetry and the spoken word.

Pedro Jubilot has dedicated part of his life to artistic creation from a very young age. Edited fanzines, webzines, flyers. Wrote and published short stories. Edited and wrote books. He collaborated with newspapers, in the area of ​​culture, and promoted cultural and artistic associations, participated in various literary meetings and created iconic cultural events, such as the meetings between musicians and poets, "Poemus", fusing music and poetry that took hundreds of people, to Casa Álvaro de Campos, in Tavira.

He was creator, inventor and builder of “CanalSonora”, an independent, non-profit publisher focused on artistic dissemination, which has been developing an intense and tireless work in promoting writers, photographers and other artists.

The “Calceteiros de Letras” award, created by the artist João Franck, was presented by Graça Lobo, from the Regional Directorate of Culture of the Algarve, at the closing of the Spoken Word Festival – 4th edition of Calceteiros de Letras.
