Lagoa promotes actions to combat bullying in its schools

Training, awareness, launching and offering of books were part of the Lagoa Municipality program for the promotion of equality

«Peer relations» was the central theme of the awareness-raising action with which the Municipality of Lagoa marked the World Day to Combat Bullying, celebrated last October 20th.

The same program included, on the 22nd, the presentation of the children's book “Maria-Rapaz, Manel-Rapariga, Preto no Branco, Girafa or Formiga – a journey about inclusion, equality and violence prevention”.

This was followed by a training action for kindergarten teachers and first cycle teachers, with suggestion of strategies for approaching the themes of the book.

On the 26th of October, school library day, this new book began to be distributed to the libraries of the School Groups and to the approximately 500 children who attend the 1st and 2nd years of the 1st cycle of public education in the municipality of Lagoa.

Also within the scope of the commemorations of the Municipal Day for Equality, marked on the 24th of October, the Municipality of Lagoa, counting on the collaboration with the Bullying Portal- Online Help Center, posted banners in the 2nd and 3rd Cycle Basic Schools in the municipality of Lagoa, where it reads: «You can make a difference»!

"Spreading messages encouraging the promotion of good relations between young people and promoting a healthier environment in schools is a way to raise awareness of the problem", said councilwoman Ana Martins, who participated in the initiative which was joined by representatives of the Boards of Directors. Groups of Schools of Rio Arade and Padre António Martins de Oliveira, and the promoter of the project PortalB – A happy school is what you want.
