Man was admitted to the Hospital of Faro

An 84-year-old man from Loulé who was admitted to the Hospital de Faro is Covid-19's latest casualty in the region, Sul Informação.

This case, revealed to our newspaper, source of the Regional Health Administration of the Algarve, «is not related to any home».

The death reported today raises to 48 the number of deaths that Covid-19 has already caused in the region, according to data from the Regional Health Authority.

This Monday, according to regional numbers, there are 1534 active cases, 64 more than yesterday.

This growth is due to the high daily increase in new cases, which was today at 136, largely due to the outbreak identified yesterday in the Prison of FaroWhere 62 prisoners and four employees tested positive for Covid-19.

Thus, the 71 recovered that were reported today were far from being enough to lower the number of active cases.

In hospitals in the region, there are now 49 inpatients (-1), of which 11 are in intensive care (+1). Four of these patients are still ventilated.

By county, and no surprises, Faro had an exponential increase in the number of cases, 78 more, taking into account the outbreak in prison.

Also in Loulé there was a considerable increase in the number of new cases (24).
