GNR passes 96 fines for wild camping and illegal motorhomes in Vila do Bispo

This action took place between the beaches of Barranco and Boca do Rio

The GNR passed 96 fines during an action to combat wild camping and illegal motorhomes that it carried out at dawn this Wednesday, November 4th, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, «with special focus on the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina» .

According to the GNR, "from the inspection actions, 96 offenses were detected for wild camping, as well as motorhomes and illegal parking in unauthorized places."

According to the National Maritime Authority, this action took place between the beaches of Barranco and Boca do Rio and «several individuals were intercepted, mostly foreigners».

These actions were carried out with the reinforcement of the Intervention Detachment of Faro and the Coastal Control Detachment (DCC) of Portimão, in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF) and the Maritime Police of Lagos, with the support of the Vila do Bispo Firefighters .

"Camping and wild caravanning is an identified problem that leads to excessive and disorderly occupation of public spaces, coastal areas and classified areas, by motorhomes and the like, with negative consequences on the landscape, the environment, land use planning and health public', concludes the GNR.
