A group of international lawyers and judges is drawing up a plan to criminalize the destruction of ecosystems on the planet and is attracting support from European countries and small island nations.
The initiative aims to establish the legal definition of “ecocide” and make it an international crime before the International Court of Justice, similar to crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide, among others.
