Companhia Nacional de Bailado will «dance and share» tonight in Faro

This will be the first "large post-confinement production" of the Companhia Nacional de Bailado

«We want to dance, be in the show and share this moment with the audience!». The National Ballet Company premieres, at national level, its most recent production, at Teatro das Figuras, in Faro. It will be this Saturday, November 14th, from 21 pm, and whoever goes there can expect a show that has a «contemporary side and a neo-classical one».

O Sul Informação participated in a rehearsal open to the press, on Friday night, less than 24 hours away from the long-awaited debut.

Sofia Campos, artistic director of Companhia Nacional de Bailado, explained to journalists that this show has the particularity of «inviting choreographers who have never worked with the company, in creation».

They are Marco da Silva Ferreira and Filipe Portugal who, together, make «a very different program» or were they not also different artists.

«Marco comes from a more independent, contemporary environment. Filipe Portugal is a former principal dancer and now, who has ceased to practice, has started a career linked to choreography. It was a desire he already had and it is his first job for the Companhia Nacional», said Sofia Campos.

Therefore, this show “A Primeira Vez” has a “contemporary side, but a more neo-classical one”.

«These two universes intersect in a purposeful and contrasting way – the idea is also to show the versatility of the Company's dancers and their enormous capacity to, with the same quality and rigor, dance different genres», considered the artistic director.

Initially, everything was ready to debut on the 15th of October, in Lisbon and not in Faro, but Covid-19 came to trade the National Ballet Company.

“We had a positive case in a dancer and that meant that the whole group had to stay in isolation. We were going to open on October 15th, but we had to postpone it. It just so happened that this show was already scheduled and we are going to have the absolute debut here. It's always a pleasure to come back to Faro», explained Sofia Campos.

And despite the "fear" that there was, due to the inclusion, on Thursday, of Faro in the list of high-risk municipalities, the play will even advance as planned, since the measures will only take effect on Monday, the 16th. Therefore, this Saturday, November 14th, at 21 pm, the Theater stage das Figuras receives this premiere.

Therefore, the Companhia Nacional de Bailado takes to the stage with the desire to…«dance and share the moment with the whole audience».

Tickets are on sale, can be purchased here and cost 15 euros.
