Rain causes flooding in Windward

There were a total of 13 occurrences

The rain that fell early this Friday, November 6th, caused flooding in the municipalities of Lagoa, Lagos and Albufeira. 

Source of the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro told the Sul Informação that «13 occurrences have been registered since midnight», all in the Barlavento Algarve.

Despite the floods, in places like Estômbar, Parchal and Carvoeiro (Lagoa), Albufeira and Meia Praia (Lagos), «they were all small situations with little relevance». In the Barranco dos Pisões, in Monchique, a tree also fell.

And the rain should continue to fall today. According to the forecast of Meteophons, this Friday the sky will be "generally very cloudy, with conditions for moderate to strong and persistent showers (during much of the day), which may be accompanied by thunderstorms, mainly in the Center and South" .

The wind will be “moderate to strong (gusts up to 90km/h in the highlands) from the east. The maximum will be around 18ºC in the interior of the Algarve and 16ºC in the south coast, 17ºC in the interior of Alentejo, 15ºC in the Vale do Tejo, 15ºC in the North Coast and 16ºC in the interior North and 14ºC in the interior Centro».

The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere has also issued a yellow precipitation warning for the Algarve, valid until 18:00 today.

As for the weekend, Saturday «will be, at first, calmer, with less cloudy weather during the morning and morning and with lighter showers. It intensifies again in the afternoon in the North, with periods of light to moderate rain», says Meteofontes.

On Sunday there will be "new rainfall intensification, which should affect mainly the North and Center in a moderate to strong way, but it may also reach the South."
