Firefighters across the country will have specialized teams to support public health

More than one million euros will be paid every month by ANEPC to the Humanitarian Firefighters Associations

Specialized teams will be created in all volunteer fire brigades on the mainland, in order to strengthen the resources for support operations in the area of ​​public health. The decision was taken by the Secretary of State for Internal Administration, as part of the Government's response measures to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The specialized teams intervene in the support, assistance and transport of patients, through the permanent allocation of an emergency ambulance and respective crew.

This measure involves the payment, to the Humanitarian Associations of Firefighters (AHB), of a daily value of 85 euros for each vehicle, to be supported by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority. The payment at 412 AHB corresponds to a monthly amount in excess of one million euros.

In a note sent to the newsrooms, the Ministry of Internal Administration states that, "through the creation of these specialized teams", "the operational response of the fire brigades in the face of the worsening of the epidemiological situation" is strengthened and "the financial capacity of the AHB" is strengthened.
