In an inspection action, today at dawn

54 kilos of fish and razor clams that were illegally caught in the Ria de Alvor and off the beach with the same name, in Portimão, were seized this morning by the Maritime Police.

During an inspection, the police detected "a fishing vessel operating in a prohibited zone, with gill nets and hidden lights, about 70 meters from Alvor beach."

At the same time, “several individuals in the interior of the Alvor estuary were also detected with excessive capture of razor clams”.

As a precautionary measure, 24 kilos of fish were seized, “which were delivered to the auction in Portimão”, and around 30 kilos of razor clams “which, because they were still alive, were returned to their natural habitat”.
