Return to Portugal: Amaro “resists” the Tower and continues in yellow

The Algarve rider Amaro Antunes (W52-FC Porto) is still the yellow jersey of the Volta a Portugal on bicycle, after the 4th stage played this Thursday, October 1st, and which ended at Alto da Torre, in Serra da Estrela. 

The tirade was won by Jóni Brandão (Efapel) who arrived at the Tower after 4 hours, 19 minutes and 2 seconds. In second was Frederico Figueiredo (Tuna General-Tavira-Maria Nova Hotel), with 3 more seconds, followed by the yellow jersey Amaro Antunes.

As for the individual general, there were no major changes. Amaro Antunes continues to lead the standings, with Frederico Figueiredo, from Tavira, in 2nd, at 13 seconds.

Vicente de Mateos, who was in 7th, did not manage to reach the front group and even left the top 10, in a rude blow to the Aviludo-Louletano cyclist.

The Algarve's João Rodrigues (W52-FC Porto) is in 7th, at 2 minutes, and Alejandro Marque comes in 8th, with another 2 minutes and 15 seconds.

Tomorrow, the 2nd of October, there is a new stage, which connects Oliveira do Hospital to Águeda, with a total of 176,3 kilometers.
