Odiana launches new brochure on the route of Cerro do Bufo

This Cerro do Bufo route can be covered on foot or by bicycle and has a distance of about 10,5 kilometers (round trip)

Odiana has launched a new brochure on the Cerro do Bufo route, in a “pocket tool with an up-to-date layout and an informative character”.

This leaflet has «a detailed and updated map, the accesses and respective coordinates, and the most representative bird species by seasonality», says Odiana.

The brochure is now available for download on the Odiana website. You can also find the printed leaflet at Odiana's premises or at the Interpretative Center of the Sapal de Castro Marim Nature Reserve and VRSA.

The Cerro do Bufo trail was the target of a requalification and infrastructure intervention that Odiana carried out last year in the Natural Reserve of Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António. This intervention included the replacement of directional totems, the placement of two panels, an interpretive table and, finally, the installation of an avifauna observatory.

This Cerro do Bufo route can be covered on foot or by bicycle and has a distance of about 10,5 kilometers (round trip).

According to Odiana, this is «a path of excellence for bird watching, among the most assiduous birds we find the flamingo, heron, white stork, long leg, mallard and tailor».

This action is an initiative of Associação Odiana, through its Valagua project, carried out in collaboration with the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF), and with the support of the Municipalities of Alcoutim and Castro Marim.

The Valagua project – Environmental Enhancement and Integrated Management of Water and Habitats in the transboundary Lower Guadiana – is a cooperation initiative between the Algarve, Alentejo and Andalusia, Interreg Program VA Spain- Portugal 2014-2020 (POCTEP), and co-financed by the FEDER.
