Loulé and IHRU sign an agreement to finance 320 new homes in the municipality

The ceremony will be attended by Pedro Nuno Santos, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing

Loulé City Council and the Institute for Housing and Urban Rehabilitation (IHRU) celebrate, this Friday, October 23, at 12:00 pm, an agreement to finance 320 new dwellings in the municipality. The ceremony, at the Cine-Teatro Louletano, will be attended by Pedro Nuno Santos, Minister of Infrastructure and Housing.

Also participating will be Marina Gonçalves, Secretary of State for Housing, and the Algarvean Jorge Botelho, Secretary of State for Decentralization and Local Administration.

This agreement is seen by the Municipality of Loulé as «another important step in the implementation of the Local Housing Strategy, with a view to solving the housing problems of around 320 households throughout the municipality, in the next six years».

The total investment will be around 44 million euros, with a non-refundable contribution from the IHRU of 15 million euros. The remaining financing will be carried out through the contracting of a subsidized bank loan, in the order of 25,5 million euros, and funds from the Municipality itself, which total close to 3 million euros.

The housing solutions embodied in this protocol include new construction, rehabilitation of fractions or buildings, acquisition of fractions or degraded buildings and subsequent rehabilitation or acquisition of land and construction of a housing development in a housing regime at controlled costs.

This “1st Right” program is a public support program for access to housing, as part of the new generation of policies promoted by the Government and Loulé will be one of the first municipalities to sign this partnership.

However, in addition to the physical and financial execution under the “1st Law”, the projects of the Municipality of Loulé in this matter “are even more ambitious, as the objective is to directly support a total of 1400 households in access to housing, in a horizon that extends to 2030».

The session for the conclusion of the collaboration agreement will be closed to the public for reasons of health security. However, it can be followed live on the Municipality's YouTube channel, this Friday, from 12:00 pm.
