DGS says audience presence in F1 and MotoGP is being reviewed

Graça Freitas said that "both issues are being resolved"

The presence of the public in Formula 1 Grand Prix e MotoGP, scheduled for the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve (AIA), in Portimão, is being revised and considered, said this Friday, 16 October, the Director-General of Health.

In the usual press conference for the balance of the Covid-19 pandemic, Graça Freitas said that "both issues are being equated", also "according to the region of the country and the incidence of cases".

“It is obvious that we always said that all situations, whether events or public, had to do not only with the type of event, but also with the epidemiological situation”, he explained.

For this reason, Graças Freitas confessed that the DGS “is reviewing its sporting events schedule”.

“We are being very cautious and looking at the epidemiological situation, whether or not there will be a public, as well as the reduction that will have to exist”, he concluded.

The Formula 1 Grand Prix is already scheduled for the weekend of the 23rd to the 25th of October and, since the announcement of the race, it has always been attended by the public. Also at the Autodromo do Algarve, the MotoGP Grand Prix will be held, but from 20 to 22 November.
