The VI Triathlon in Albufeira takes place on the 27th of September, against the backdrop of “the beauty of Praia da Galé”. The test has the approval of the Regional Health Authority, in times of Covid-19.
«This competition counts towards the Regional Championship of the modality that will determine the regional champions of the Algarve. After an atypical season, without a competitive framework, this will be the first event held in the Algarve region after the long period of confinement», says the City Council of Albufeira.
The test has the approval of the Regional Health Authority of the Algarve and has undergone changes to adapt to all the necessary safety measures.
This year, the Albufeira Triathlon consists of a swimming competition (triangular lap of 750 meters), departing from Praia da Galé, at 10:15 am. Then there is a bicycle route, scheduled to start at 10:30 am, from the Parque de Transição on the access road to Praia da Galé, in front of the Galeão restaurant, towards Albufeira.
Athletes will travel a total of 12.200 meters, on an asphalt road with little unevenness, on an accessible round trip route, repeated three times, returning to the starting point at Praia da Galé Park.
The race ends with a race in a walkway area, asphalt and dirt, in a course of 5.150 meters, with two laps, always along the beach. The results will be posted at 13:00 and at 13:15 will be followed by the delivery of the prizes.
This is an organization of Futebol Clube de Ferreiras with the support of the Municipality of Albufeira and the Triathlon Federation of Portugal. The event, which counts on the participation of federated athletes from several clubs in the Algarve, will consecrate the Absolute Regional Champions, Individuals by Echelon and by Teams. Enrollments are ongoing until the 22nd of September.
Athletes aged 16 and over can participate in the VI Triathlon in Albufeira, individually or in representation of federated clubs throughout the Algarve region.
